Under the NHS Pharmacy First scheme, our pharmacists can assess and, where clinically appropriate, treat the following seven conditions:

- Acute sinusitis
- Shingles
- Impetigo
- Acute otitis media (middle ear infection, in children)
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infection in women
- Infected insect bites
Each condition has its own clinical criteria that our pharmacist will check against during your consultation, to make sure the service — and any treatment offered — is appropriate for your specific symptoms.
How a Pharmacy First Consultation Works
The process is designed to be quick and simple. You can either walk into the pharmacy or call ahead to arrange a time. During your consultation, our pharmacist will ask about your symptoms, how long you've had them, and your relevant medical history, then carry out any necessary checks for your specific condition.
If your symptoms meet the criteria for treatment, the pharmacist can supply a prescription-only medicine — such as an antibiotic where clinically indicated — directly, without you needing a separate GP prescription. If your symptoms don't meet the criteria, or something else seems to be going on, the pharmacist will advise you on next steps, which might include seeing your GP or attending another NHS service.
